My internet journey
Hi I am Jadeslair and I am going to use this blog to share my expierience in becoming an internet guru. It hasn’t happened yet but it will and if you follow this then you will learn all of the secrets.
I started by setting up a youtube channel, the idea was to become a partner and get some ad revenue. My subject is gaming, which I love. Simple enough make money doing something I love. After having a few successful videos and some set up on revenue share, which is for videos that rise in popularity fast. Youtube disabled my revenue share, as it turns out they do not want videos of gameplay with voice overs they want videos of reviews or something with limited gameplay to avoid copyright violations. They will let you put the videos up but unless you are a major company you will not get paid. My youtube page: http://www.youtube.com/user/Jadeslair
My next step since I never give up was to set up a blog. Blogspot lets you do one for free, so I started with them. Here is that page: http://jades-lair.blogspot.com/ I directed some traffic from youtube by posting a link in my profile. I was getting about 100,000 hits a month on youtube at the time so my blog got a lot of views right away but it wasn’t a good blog. The format, look and feel was wrong for a gaming site. Blogspot has some bad themes and not that many options so I grabbed a modded WordPress theme. And set up some tabs to other blogs to make it look like a website. I did one for video game trailers and one for video game reviews.
I was happy with that for about a month but I was getting a lot of traffic and wanted my site to grow. Blogger is a great service but it does have some limitations such as being slow to load for larger blogs and difficult to change. I decided to launch my first website with my own domain. Which is Video Games That is not a very SEO name for a website but I am not trying to just SEO I am branding. Most gamers know of Bungie even though game developer is not in their title. So I am branding Jadeslair. That is my gamertag for xboxlive in case you are wondering.
